Final Project for Fall

I'm a bit behind on this one due to the medical leave I was forced to take the week of Halloween. Was absent for three weeks, so I've only been working on the design process since mid November. Everyone in studio has already finished, but thankfully my instructor has allowed me to bring the project into winter break to finish up. If you ever read this Karen, thank you very much.

Now, the final project explores the sun and wind in an urban Ozarks setting. Conceptualization was based on the generating ideas of geometries and context, exploring design through ideal abstract qualities and the physical immediate surroundings. The design is for a shop for mobiles and kaleidoscopes in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas. For those of you who have never been to Eureka Springs, I strongly encourage you to visit. It's a mere two hour drive from Springfield, MO.

The site is located on Spring Street in Eureka Springs. The existing buildings on the site were "totally destroyed in a massive earthquake." Remarkably, all other buildings remained structurally sound and free of damage. This, of course, is not true. It was more than likely meant as a bit of humor and an explanation for why we're building in a site that is already occupied (I believe there is a restaurant there currently).

So, that's the final. I will have photos of Eureka Springs on the site ASAP, or you can google some images and the town's history. Beginning concept and study models will also be up as soon as I get there.
